Barcelona midfielder Gavi says he wants to get “better and better” after scoring his first goal since returning from injury for the Catalans after almost a year out.
Gavi scored and grabbed an assist in the 2-0 victory over Athletic Club that has sent Barca into the final of the Spanish Super Cup.
Here’s what he made of it afterwards:
“I’m happy and very pleased with the team’s victory, in the end that’s what’s important,” he told reporters.
“I was lucky enough to score the goal and give the assist, but in the end what matters is that we’re in the final and we have to win it. I want to get better and better.”
Gavi also spoke about his decision to dedicate his goal to Olmo after Barcelona learnt ahead of the game that the club have been granted permission to temporarily register the Spain star.
“I’ve done several celebrations, but I did one of them for Dani Olmo. He knows that he’s very important for us and he’ll be there in the final,” he added.
“I told him before that I was going to do it if he scored and I dedicated it to him. Both Dani and Pau are players who help us a lot and we’re all happy that they can play now.”
Barcelona go on to play either Real Madrid in the final of the tournament.
