With only a few days remaining until Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, last-minute leaks continue to emerge—this time, about the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra model and, in particular, about its upgraded cameras.
January 16 update below: New leaks reveal official Samsung Promo material that confirms new AI features and upgraded camera specs.
Despite a relatively small expected boost in camera hardware specs, a new report from regular Samsung leaker Ahmed Qwaider claims the Galaxy S25 Ultra will deliver notable improvements to photo and video.
According to Qwaider, these improvements include:
High Resolution — Better Video Results With Less Noise
The report doesn’t specify how Samsung will achieve these video improvements. However, previous leaks point to improved nighttime video, thanks to Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and higher-resolution ultra-wide video.
Ultra Wide Camera — Better Macro Mode With 4x Better Clarity
This improvement most likely comes from the previously leaked 50-megapixel upgrade to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s ultra-wide-angle camera. This new sensor would deliver four times the resolution of the 12-megapixel version on the S24 Ultra.
Audio Eraser — Remove Unwanted Sounds From video With AI.
This powerful feature, first seen on Google’s Pixel 8 series, could be coming to the Samsung Galaxy range. Already leaked by well-known tipster Ice Universe on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, Audio Eraser is expected to arrive as part of One UI7 and is, therefore, unlikely to be limited to S25-series devices, given that the leaker has already posted a screenshot of the feature on a current-generation smartphone.
Log Video — Support For Professional Workflows
Log video captures more dynamic range than standard 8-bit recordings, allowing for more flexible editing and color grading after shooting. Apple’s iPhone range currently supports the feature in ProRes RAW mode, but Android devices currently need to switch to third-party apps such as Mcpro24fps or MotionCam Pro to shoot in log mode.
Seamless Camera Switching While Recording Video
The Galaxy S24 series already supports seamless camera switching to a degree, and the report does not provide information on how the Galaxy S25 Ultra might improve on this. However, the current implementation isn’t perfect. Samsung will likely use the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s improved image signal processor to enhance the image quality and smooth the transition between lenses in video recordings.
Alongside what appear to be modest improvements in camera hardware, the Snapdragon 8 Elite will do most of the heavy lifting to bring significant improvements in AI, features, camera quality and overall performance to the Galaxy S25 range. This improved processing power, combined with Samsung’s new One UI 7 firmware, will make for an exciting release later this month.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will be revealed just a few days from now at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, now confirmed for 22 January at 6 pm.
January 16 update: Further leaks emerge — AI features and camera specs revealed
Brazilian news site Teconoblog has obtained what appear to be official Samsung promo materials ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event. These promo images confirm many existing leaks regarding the Galaxy S25 series and tease some exciting new AI capabilities.
Galaxy S25 Series — New AI Features Revealed
According to the report, the Galaxy S25 series will offer:
- Google’s Gemini AI assistant integrated with YouTube and Samsung Notes
- A new “Now Brief” feature, which brings you personalized information for key points during your day
In an example YouTube query the user asks, “Hey Google Gemini, list the places mentioned in this video and save a Note.” This suggests that the Galaxy S25 series will use Gemini to extract information from YouTube videos and create new notes in the Samsung Notes app.
Screenshots of the Now Brief feature show full-screen pages titled “Good morning,” which includes weather forecast details and sleep-quality information; “For your route,” which offers helpful suggestions for your journey to work; and “Night summary,” which features memorable moments from your day and a summary of your activity and fitness achievements.
At this point, we don’t know whether these new AI-powered features will require an S25-series device or whether One UI 7 will bring them to older models too.
