Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Canary Build 27768

Windows 11 PC

Microsoft has just released the Windows 11 preview build 27768 for Insiders on the Canary Channel. This is a minor update with various bug fixes and two changes for File Explorer and the Settings app. If you’ve been following Windows Insider flights in recent months, you may already know that new features often show up first in the Dev and Beta Channels first before landing on the Canary Channel.

Anyway, with today’s Canary build, Microsoft is adding a New Folder option in the context menu when right-clicking locations in the navigation pane. The company is also bringing back the ability to change time zones under Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time for standard (non-admin) users.

The Windows 11 Canary build 27768 also fixes a bug causing the mouse cursor to stutter in some circumstances. For PC gamers, another issue causing some games to appear oversaturated when Auto HDR is enabled has also been fixed. In the release notes, Microsoft also mentioned that it’s working to fix the errors that users encounter every time they run the System File Checker tool.

The Windows Insider team is slowly getting things back into motion after the holidays. Last week saw the release of the first two preview builds of 2025 on the Canary and Beta channels, and it shouldn’t be too long before the Dev Channel gets a new build as well.
