Sign Princess Kate was ‘nervous’ talking to some patients during hospital visit

Kate Middleton recently paid a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, London, where she was treated for cancer and her body language revealed a lot.

Now, body language expert Inbaal Honigman says Kate was fully immersed in her chat with the patients, but got nervous listening to some stories.

Honigman told The Express: “Her interest in the patients is without a doubt genuine. Her forward lean shows how she doesn’t want to miss a word, and her round, large hand movements convey her enjoyment in talking to them. Some of the conversations must be harder than others, because at times she’s seen clenching her hands together, which shows that she’s nervous about the story that the patient is telling her.”

“As she’s seen sitting down in a circle, having a conversation, she’s fully engaged in the chat,” said the expert.

She continued: “There’s a vulnerability to the princess, in the way that her hands meet across her body, protecting herself, and her crossed legs create another barrier of protection, with her knee popping in front of her body.”

Kate’s visit to Royal Marsden Hospital marked her first solo engagment and coincided with the announcement that she and Prince William have become patrons of the hospital.

Inbaal further explained: “Frequently we can see her arms opening as she shares her views with those around her, which shows that she doesn’t keep her barriers up, and that she allows people to see her true self. Catherine’s upwards-facing palms mean that she’s being truthful in the conversation.”

Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 and spent much of the year away from the public eye as she received treatment. It was revealed recently that she’s now in remission.
