The accessories you take skiing are, arguably, just as important as the skis themselves. They’re your one-way-ticket to looking like an expert on the slopes, regardless of whether you actually are. If you want something functional and fashionable, though, you’ll need to invest.
Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2024 runway exhibited some of the chicest ski accessories we’ve seen to date, pairing fur-trimmed mittens with shell suits and showcasing cashmere knits, beanies and shawls that honestly looked far too good to risk ruining in the snow. Loro Piana launched a ski capsule collection, Moncler Genius went all-out puffer, and recently, SKIMS collaborated with The North Face in a collection which saw (for approximately five minutes before it all sold out) everything from balaclavas to thermal gloves.
There is an appetite for the best ski clothes and the best ski jackets for women every season, but it’s the smaller items that are having a real moment this year. Not sure where to look first or what you’ll really need up in the mountains? See below…
The headwear
It goes without saying that your ski helmet should be your main focus, first and foremost. Designer brands such as Dior, Prada and Fendi offer some of the most discerning styles, but ski brands Fusalp and Goldbergh really lead the way. Our favourite? The standout Pucci x Fusalp design.
Elsewhere, beneath the helmet, you’ll likely need a warming layer such as a beanie or balaclava. Look to fabrics like cashmere and wool to provide you with a snuggly, cushioned base layer.
The footwear
Aside from your actual ski boots, you’ll be needing a pair of luxury snow stompers to get from your chalet to aprés – non? Oui. The winter boots the fashion crowd are wearing non-stop at the moment come via Jimmy Choo and Prada, but Bogner and Moncler offer some weather-resistant iterations that are just as sought-after.
The eyewear
Forget your warm-weather sunnies (for now), you’ll be needing a pair of goggles when you ‘shoop, shoop, shoop’ down the blues, reds and blacks to protect you from the elements. Luckily, your favourite designer sunglasses maker likely provides ski goggles, too. Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Celine or Chloé, anyone?
The hand-warmers
Is there anything worse than having cold hands? If there’s one thing you’ll quickly learn while skiing, it’s that no, there’s not. You’ll need your fingers fully functioning, and the best way to achieve that is through a decent pair of gloves or mittens. There are several luxury brands to hand (pardon the pun) with pairs that look as impressive as they are practical, with our top four picks featured here.
The extras
Let’s be honest, part of the fun of going skiing is all the activities you do outside of flying down the slopes themselves. That said, you’ll still need to stay warm via some extra luxury winter accessories – think: fluffy headbands, earmuffs and scarves. A sure fire way to dress up the best fleece lined leggings and other thermals.
